Presidential elections

On the first week of february, Costa Rica had its presidential elections. The spot for president was mainly being disputed by 4 major candidates:

+ Laura Chinchilla: she is part of the PLN party, its a center/right party. She had the most percentage of support and was the leading candidate. Some people didnt like her because she has the support of the current president and people thought her presidency was going to be the same as this one (even though the actual president is one of the best Costa Rica has had). She won the elections.

+ Otto Guevara: leader of the ML party, an extreme right party. This was his 4th presidential race, he had lost all the other ones. He experienced lots of support this time because people were dissapointed by the other candidates. He is very controversial because of his ideas.

+ Otton Solis: leader and founder of the PAC party, a left party. This was his 3rd presidential race.

+ Luis Fishman: member of the PUSC party, a center/left party. His slogan was: "I'm the least bad". He said several times that if all politicians were bad, he was the least bad of them. He obviously finished last.

  1. Are you happy with the results? I'm impressed with the female win (just since my country has yet to elect a woman). Has Costa Rica had a lot of female presidents?

Ha! (for Luis Fishman being "the least bad" and "obviously" finishing last.)
